The Fern Hill comprehensive counseling program provides a variety of preventative and responsive services and help connect students and families to additional resources available in their community. Student services are delivered through various program components including classroom guidance curriculum, small groups, individual planning, student leadership, and system support. Classroom guidance curriculum often focuses around social/emotional development. Topics that are discussed include: friendship making skills, social skills, teamwork, communication development, and kindness activities. The Fern Hill Falcons Student Leadership Team is a group of 3rd & 4th grade students interested in helping out around the school and modeling positive behaviors for younger students. Applications are available to all students through the school counselor. “Lunch Bunch” provides students with an opportunity to meet in small groups with the school counselor during the students’ lunch period. Lunch Bunch is designed to boost self-esteem, social skills, and increase peer relations. Brief individual counseling & student mediation is provided as needed. |
